The American Waters Collection showcases how water makes the American West a land of verdant abundance. This collection presents my very best photographs of locations where water takes center stage and is a collection I hold dear for the personal rewards I have earned at each location.
I created these photographs with both film (before 2016) and digital (2016 and beyond) cameras. This is important to the collection because of how each of them renders photographs. My film of choice was Fuji Velvia, a wonderfully slow and saturated film with vivid blues and magentas and strong contrast. I recall feeling a special affinity for Velvia for, while it was very unforgiving for its narrow exposure range, it absolutely popped the colors!
Since retiring my film camera in 2016, I have made all my photographs with a Nikon D610 (till 2020) and D810 (beginning 2021), two of Nikon's best digital SLR cameras. They do well in both strong and low light conditions and have been with me all over the west as I make photographs of some of America's mythic waters in classic tradition.
A note about ordering:
Photographs within my American Waters Collection are Limited Edition photographs, personally hand-signed and numbered by me. Each edition is limited to 20 prints, regardless of size. When the edition reaches 20 prints, I retire the photograph from further printing.
